We believe everyone should be able to explore our work and get in touch with us easily, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time task.

1. Our standard

We aim for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, physical, speech, cognitive and neurological disabilities. We also follow newer WCAG 2.2 guidance where practical.

2. Accessibility features

Navigation and structure

  • A "Skip to content" link is the first item on every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the menu.
  • Pages use a logical heading order, landmark regions (header, navigation, main content and footer) and real lists, so assistive technology can describe and navigate them.
  • Every feature, including the menu, image gallery, portfolio filters, testimonials and question-and-answer sections, can be used with a keyboard alone.
  • A clearly visible outline shows which element has keyboard focus.
  • The mobile menu keeps focus inside it while open and can be closed with the Escape key.
  • Breadcrumb trails show where each page sits on the website, and the main pages are also linked from the footer.

Visual design

  • Text and background colors are chosen to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% with browser zoom, and pages reflow to a single column on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Information is never conveyed by color alone; links and buttons are identified by text, underline or shape as well.
  • Body text uses a clear, readable typeface with generous line spacing and line lengths kept comfortable for reading.

Images and media

  • Meaningful photographs have text descriptions (alternative text) describing the room or detail shown.
  • Purely decorative images are marked so that screen readers skip them.
  • The website contains no audio, no video and no flashing content.

Forms

  • Every form field has a visible label, and required fields are marked in the label text.
  • If something needs correcting, a summary is announced at the top of the form and each error is described in words next to the field it belongs to.
  • Fields support browser autofill for name, email, phone and town.
  • The details you entered are kept when the form is shown again, so you do not have to start over.

Motion and animation

  • Animations are short and subtle. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and the automatic photo slideshow are switched off.
  • The website works fully without JavaScript; scripts only add enhancements.

3. Compatibility

The website is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge on desktop, and with Safari on iPhone and iPad and Chrome on Android. It is built to be compatible with common assistive technologies, including VoiceOver on Apple devices, TalkBack on Android, and NVDA and JAWS on Windows.

The website relies on HTML, CSS and SVG to work with your browser and any assistive technology you use. JavaScript is used for optional enhancements only. Older browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not supported but should still display the main content.

4. Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. These are the limitations we know about, along with alternatives:

  • Home page photo slideshow: the background photos change automatically every few seconds. You can choose a photo with the numbered controls, and the slideshow stops automatically if your device asks to reduce motion. The photos are decorative and contain no information that is not also given in text.
  • Directions: "Get directions" links open Google Maps, which is operated by Google and outside our control. Our full address is always provided as text on the same page.
  • Social media: if we link to our profiles on social networks, the accessibility of those platforms is the responsibility of the companies that run them.

If you find any other barrier, please let us know so we can fix it.

5. How we assess accessibility

This statement is based on a self-evaluation of the website's design and code against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, covering keyboard navigation, focus visibility, color contrast, text resizing and reflow on small screens, alternative text, form labels and error messages, heading structure and reduced-motion support. We review accessibility whenever we add new pages or features, and we welcome feedback from people who use assistive technology every day.

6. Accessibility in our services

Our commitment extends beyond the website. If you or someone in your household has accessibility needs, please tell us when you contact us. We are happy to arrange consultations at a time and in a way that suits you, share proposals in a format that works for you, and take mobility, vision, sensory and aging-in-place considerations into account in our furniture, lighting, layout and color recommendations.

7. Feedback and contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter a barrier, need information in a different format, or have a suggestion, please contact us:
